Before I begin this fantastic blog post, let me ask you all a very pressing question. Are you ready for it? Are you really ready for it? Well here it is!
DO YOU LIKE WALFLES!!
Oh whoops. Wrong one, here's the real question:
Why should you read?
Well, let me ask you another question. Why do you use your imagination? Do you not use it for entertainment, or to better visualize what someone is describing? Well those are the things that reading exploits. When you read, the author is trying to convey a story to you. The author makes this story or stories to give you a adventure. In a way, it's like escaping from the world. You can view a whole new world and fallow through the lives of the characters. You can become immersed in the book to the point that you will be able to feel the emotions of the characters. It is a truly wonderful experience.
But there are as many stories, as there are people. Each person has a story to tell. Some hold these stories dear to their hearts, others hold them like a burden. Some stories are hidden away from the world, and sometimes, even from the very person who hides the story. Each and every story is precious, because the author had the courage to tell it. Even if the story is horrible, or heart breaking, or scary, they still remain to be the precious stories that an author wrote.
Recall the quotes from the other three blog posts. What do you think inspired them? The answer is dreams. Many stories originate from a dream. This dream led to them writing. These dreams might be things you think about on occasion, or dreams of the night as you lay sleeping, letting your subconsciousness roam. They might be a thought, a feeling, or something you hold dear, like a memory of a precious time. Dreams are the driving force behind each and every authors story. Even if the dream isn't a happy one, they are still the dreams of the author.
Life can be hard, bleak, happy, and challenging. Life holds many experiences for each person. These experiences each shape a person, and may even drive them to write; to tell of their own story. With each story you read, you view a piece of an authors life. Even if the piece is small, it's still there. Each and every story is precious.
I have one final question for you: Will you read?
Great job, Nii! Is it odd that by the second-to-last paragraph, my mind was bombarded by Richter's voice? "Courage is the magic that turns dreams into reality."
ReplyDeleteReally well written. Your passion really comes through in this.
ReplyDeleteGood job Steven! Thanks for making the font bigger for the old people. And yes, I do like waffles.
ReplyDeleteThis was really interesting, and I agree. Stories should be told- that's why they exist!
